STOP THE BLEED:

Responding to Life-threatening Emergencies at Work

Tuesday, May 14, 8-10 am

Holton Hall, Winston Prouty Campus, Brattleboro

A workplace tragedy is not a topic anyone wants to think about, but avoiding it will only guarantee one thing...that you are not prepared. Through a collaborative effort, Thrive LLC and Wellness Works offer a powerful workshop on preparing for events at work that could result in life-threatening injuries.

Massive bleeding from any cause, but particularly from violent acts where a response is delayed can result in death. Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within five to 10 minutes. However, anyone at the scene can act as an immediate responder and save lives if they know what to do. Using the curriculum from BleedingControl.org (an initiative of the American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus) participants will learn vital information and skills so they can stop the bleed  if they are in a situation that results in traumatic blood loss. While it is our hope that no one who takes this training will need to use it, being prepared can save a life.

In addition to life-saving bleeding control procedures, participants will gain tools and information to help them prepare for workplace emergencies including psychological first aid in the event they respond to a traumatic accident.

This workshop is appropriate for anyone in any position at work. It is particularly useful to those in leadership roles and/or who coordinate workplace safety efforts. Please contact us directly if your workplace is sending multiple employees and you would like to pay by check ([email protected]).
